Verse of the Day (August 5, 2020)

Verse of the Day (August 5, 2020) #BMSeminary – Having experienced the power of Scripture in his own life, the psalmist acknowledged how wonderful God’s Word is. Because God’s Word can bring about such amazing transformations, the psalmist eagerly declared that he obeyed its commands. He was a living testimony to the fact that God’s Word gives light and understanding to all who seek it. It shows us how we are supposed to live and what we should do (v. 130). When God opens up His Word to us, its light exposes the dangers of a sinful life, but it also demonstrates the delights of the path of righteousness. It reveals the darkness of our corrupt human hearts and our need of God’s salvation. It points the way to the cross, where we find the forgiveness and redemption we so desperately need (2 Co.4:3–6). After it guides us to salvation, Scripture can completely change our lives. It teaches us, rebukes us, corrects us, and instructs us in righteousness (2 Ti.3:15–16). Through this glorious transformation, it gives understanding to the simple, exposing our foolish ways and illuminating the way of wisdom (Ps. 19:7).
