BMS UpdatesVerse of the Day (May 28, 2020) 28 May 2020 Eduardo Marin, D.Min. Verse of the Day (May 28, 2020) #BMSeminary – A catalog of loving acts and strategies continues. Much here echoes Jesus’ teaching in the Gospels, as it also reflects the way he lived on earth. This includes love even for detractors or opponents (vv. 14, 20–21). Faith in Christ through the gospel message activates love full of empathy (v. 15), harmony (v. 16), and noble deference to others, even enemies (v. 17). Where conflict can possibly be avoided, the gospel mandates peaceable relations with others (v. 18), not rivalry, contention, or apathy. A strong sense of God’s presence, faithfulness, and ultimate justice means that vengeance can be left in his sure hands (v. 19). Those united to Christ imitate their Master not in dutiful, self-generated efforts but in light of the great love with which he himself has loved us.
