Verse of the Day (October 18, 2019) – To be in the friendly presence of God is a privilege afforded only to the holy (Ps. 27:4–9). Bad things—even death—can happen when people defile God’s consecrated space (Lev. 10:1–3; Joshua 7–8; Acts 5:1–11; 1 Cor. 11:17–34). God is good, and the goodness of his grace overwhelms fear to the point of making us joyful worshipers in this evil world (Ps. 27:6, 13). God’s beautiful presence comforts the abandoned (v. 10), vindicates the falsely accused (v. 12), and makes brave the cowardly (v. 14). In fact, waiting on the realization of God’s presence is always the formula for courage in Scripture (e.g., Josh. 1:5–9). God’s people waited until his presence became flesh in Jesus Christ. No one could find fault in Christ’s perfection (Matt. 26:59). So, joined to him, believers now serve through their words and work as holy priests before the presence of God (1 Pet. 2:9; Heb. 10:19–25). (Gospel Transformation Study Bible) #BMSeminary
